Grief and Music Writing Camps
What
Join other teens for a week of collaboration with professional facilitators from the Dougy Center and professional musicians and instructors from My Voice Music to create your own original piece of music. Learn to play an instrument, write music and lyrics, and record your song in My Voice Music's professional studio for you to take home.

What safety measures are in place for in-person camps?
- We will determine mask mandates based on statewide requirements and level of risk as it gets closer to the dates of camp.
- Dougy Center, My Voice Music and Death Jams staff are fully vaccinated and up-to-date as they are eligible.
- Instruments and high-touch points sanitized daily.
- Campers will be assigned their own instruments for the week.
- Limit of 10 campers per week.
- Air purifiers in each room and gathering space, windows open where possible.
Partners
Dougy Center is a nonprofit organization based in Portland, Oregon that offers peer grief support groups and to children, teens, young adults, and their families and is a national leader in offering support and training to others seeking to assist children who are grieving. Since our start in 1982, we have served over 55,000 individuals in our groups.
My Voice Music teaches youth to write, record, and perform original songs. As our name suggests, our vision is that all youth have the opportunity to find and share their artistic voice. To this end, we have awesome programs that reach over 2,000 kids a year!
